1. What is Life Coaching?
Coaching is an efficient way for an individual to gain insight to what aspirations they would like to enhance, while exploring new paths of thought and being supported so they can receive the highest of their potential. My mission as a coach is to accompany you on your personal or partnered journeys so you can be happy, healthy, balanced, and productive at any stage of life. I know that you have the inner wisdom to answer your own questions and it is my role, through powerful questioning, to produce insights that will allow this knowledge to surface. Different parts of people's lives that might be worked on are: career, health/wellness, money, spiritual development, home, family, friends, fun/recreation, etc. Coaching helps you bring balance and satisfaction to all of the various parts of your life. As a personal life coach trained in the co-active model, I view each and every client as creative, resourceful and whole. What this means is that you are capable of setting and reaching goals and finding your own answers. Count on me to ask the questions! Our coaching relationship is a designed alliance and you get to "design the coach" based on your own personality style and needs. As your partner, I will always see and point out your greatness and potential, even when you lose sight of it.
2. How do I start the Life Coaching Process?
Contact Kiya to schedule an appointment for an Intake, which is the initial, structured session that forms the foundation of our work. Following the Intake we will explore values, focus areas and goals. Then we can decide what kind of schedule would work best for you.
3. Is everything we discuss confidential?
Absolutely! 100% confidential! This is extremely important and is regarded with utmost value!
4. How much does Life Coaching cost?
Prices for Coaching services are $445.00 per month (4 weeks) for 45 minutes each week. Prices could vary depending on how many sessions and how long they are. Typically people receive life coaching for 3 hours a month, divided up into either (4) 45 minute sessions per month or (3) 1 hour sessions per month or (2) 90 minute sessions. These arrangements are all at the rate of $445.00 per month. Other options include 1.5 hours per month at $230 or 4 hours per month at $540.00. However, my services are flexible and can accommodate the wishes and needs of my clients. Some discounts may apply, as well. The Intake costs $315.00 for approximately 2 hours. All life coaching rates include updates and spot coaching via email between sessions. (Clients have found spot coaching to be a potent way to stay on track and remain motivated and connected with me.) Fees are always paid upfront on a monthly basis. Life coaching can pay for itself in increased productivity and quality of life.
5. How is Life Coaching different from Counseling?
Coaching is about finding your strengths and molding it to change your future, your actions, your character patterns and change your life. Coaching uses a defined process to produce insights and change in old habit patterns. Counseling focuses on the past, dealing with why events happened, interpreting a way to find peace. Life coaching deals with the present and future. It does not examine the past but instead creates your future. The life coaching I provide is therapeutic, but it is not therapy. As a coach, I help you find your own answers. People are more likely to take action if it is something they themselves have come up with and not been told to do.
6. How long does Life Coaching Take?
I request that clients make a three month commitment to the coaching to give it a full chance to demonstrate its effectiveness. This is not a financial commitment but a psychological one. Therefore, the coaching might last only three months or it may continue on for a year or more. You will know when it is time to end. I recommend that you commit to coaching for a minimum of twelve weeks because the hardwiring and embedding of new habit patterns accrues over time. To make the experience as valuable as possible, I encourage you to make this commitment to yourself. However, every person is unique and the length and frequency of the sessions are adapted to you and what you want to achieve.
7. What does it mean to be a certified Life Coach?
Unfortunately, anyone can call themselves a Life Coach at this time. When looking for a Coach, always ask them about their training and make sure you see a copy of their certification papers. Presently, there are no standards or requirements for training or certification, so many think they can open a business without knowing how to coach. Hopefully this will change soon to the benefit of consumers. I have completed a rigorous coaching training program (Coaches Training Institute) which is accredited by the International Coach Federation and am certified as a coach by this training institute. We have had to acquire numerous hours of practice, coach a certain number of our own clients for a length of time and pass an all day written exam as well as an oral exam with over 90%. I have a unique blend of educational preparation, professional achievement, personal experience, and a gift for listening and creative thinking.
8. When will I see results?
I recommend that you commit to coaching for a minimum of twelve weeks because the hard-wiring and embedding of new habit patterns that accrue over time. To make the experience as valuable as possible, I encourage you to make this commitment to yourself. However, every person is unique and the length and frequency of the sessions are adapted to you and what you want to achieve. You will see increased self-awareness, lower stress levels, ability to set better goals, more balanced life, new found self-discovery and more self-confidence.
9. What makes Life Coaching so convenient?
Life Coaching is usually conducted on the phone in the convenience of your home or office. Some local folks might opt to do it in person. People have full and busy lives and some might not like not to deal with traffic or weather conditions; coaching on the phone is a viable option for them. Location is truly no obstacle.
10. How can Life Coaching work over the phone and is it possible to meet in person?
The telephone offers a wonderful opportunity to have an in-depth conversation without you feeling as though you are under scrutiny. The absence of eye contact is often very freeing and allows you to feel more comfortable in sharing information. Experienced coaches are very attuned to changes in tone, tenor, and pacing as a reflection of emotions. Although most coaching sessions take place on the phone, in person sessions are available as well.
11. What is Authentic-Character Coaching?
It is so easy to become caught up in the hectic, fast paced lifestyle that our world must live up to. With Authentic-Character Coaching, we bring out your genuine, whole-hearted self that is often lost from the influence of society. This helps the client to slowly incorporate simple and real ways to live out their passions, as well as techniques to express their feelings without complications.
